Beware of entities contacting you to prepare a qualified written request (QWR) for a fee. Section 6 of RESPA, per 12 U.S.C. ? 2605, provides that a borrower may send a QWR directly to a loan servicer for information relating to the servicing of a federally related mortgage loan. When sending a QWR, you should be specific about the problems that you are encountering in terms of your loan servicing. You may send a QWR directly to your lender without outside assistance.
