On December 9, 2015, FHA issued Mortgagee Letter 15-30, effective for forward mortgage case numbers, and Mortgagee Letter 15-29 effective for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) case numbers, assigned on or after January 1, 2016.
These Mortgagee Letters provide the maximum mortgage limits for Title II FHA-insured forward mortgages and the maximum claim amounts for FHA-insured traditional HECM, HECM for purchase, and HECM-to-HECM refinances, for calendar year 2016 respectively.
Forward mortgage limits for 2016 have been incorporated into HUD Handbook 4000.1 and, therefore, have been published separately from the 2016 HECM loan limits.
HECM nationwide claim amount limitations remain at $625,500 for all areas.
