What Does the GMC Do?
The Grants management Center (GMC) is an internal service organization within the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) that supports various HUD Program Offices, and individual programs, such as Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency, Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency, ROSS Service Coordinators, and the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative.
The goal of the GMC is to provide efficient, timely and accurate methods for processing, reviewing and awarding of PIH Categorical grant applications.
Established in 1998, the GMC has processed over 21,000 applications, providing over 53,000 grants (totaling over $35 billion) that support the Office of Public and Indian Housing's (PIH) mission of ensuring safe, decent and affordable housing; creating opportunities for residents' self-sufficiency and economic success/independence, and the fiscal integrity of all program participants.
