HUD Publishes Notice Seeking Applications for Three Additional MTW Agencies

As part of HUD's 2010 budget appropriation (Section 232, title II, division A of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010, enacted December 16, 2009), Congress authorized HUD to add three agencies to the MTW demonstration. The Act required agencies to be high performing under HUD's Public Housing Assessment System (PHAS) and operate no more then 5,000 aggregate Housing Choice Vouchers and public housing units.

On July 30, 2010, the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) issued PIH Notice 2010-29 (HA) soliciting applications for three additional Moving to Work (MTW) PHAs. Eligible agencies must meet the statutory criteria noted above, as well as additional eligibility requirements set forth by HUD in the notice. Applicants must also be willing to test two Departmental policy priorities as discussed in the notice. Applications are due by 5pm on November 30, 2010. The Notice, as well as an optional eligibility worksheet (MS-Excel), can be found on PIH Notices page.

The Department has also developed a Q & A to assist potential applicants. This list will be updated from time to time as additional questions arise.
