The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) implemented its original
MTW program at three of its public housing developments in 2000.
Beginning in 2010, SAHA proposes to use lessons learned from its
experience with the 2000 demonstration in order to expand its efforts
and move forward to include all public housing units and Housing
Choice Voucher units in the MTW program, as well as develop community
involvement in the creation of the MTW Plan and identify key service
providers in order to address barriers to employment, develop job
training programs, promote education, identify ways to streamline
and reduce federal expenditures and increase housing choices for
low income families.
SAHA currently administers approximately 7,000 public housing
units and 12,400 Housing Choice Voucher units.
