"Numerous men and women voluntary leave their families and put their lives on the line to ensure that we, their fellow Americans, live safely in our homes," said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan. "The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers offer veterans a permanent home and critically needed supportive services to those who have served our nation."
The HUD-VASH Program will provide local public housing agencies with rental assistance vouchers specifically targeted to assist homeless veterans in the area. Public housing authorities, that administer HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) or (Section 8), work closely with Veterans Affairs Medical Centers to manage the program. In addition to the rental assistance, VA Medical Centers provide supportive services and case management to eligible veterans.

What happens when someone calls?
- You will be connected to a trained VA staff member.
- Hotline staff will conduct a brief screen to assess your needs.
- Homeless Veterans will be connected with the Homeless Point of Contact at the nearest VA facility.
- Contact information will be requested so that VA staff may follow up
