Want advice on buying a home, renting, default, foreclosure, credit issues or reverse mortgages? HUD sponsors certain housing counseling agencies throughout the country who in turn give advice free or at low cost.

A reverse mortgage (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage or HECM) can be a good option for seniors. A local HECM housing counselor will be able to counsel you about your options and the pros and cons of a reverse mortgage. Some HECM counselors serve nationwide.
