Title I Lender Application Package

You will need all these items to submit a Title I mortgagee application:

• Cover Sheet
  Payment of Title I mortgagee approval application fee
• HUD 11701
  Application form for FHA lender approval.
• Handbook 4700.2 Rev 1,
  Title I Lender Approval Handbook
• Title I Letter 469
  Internet access requirements for Title I lenders

Be very careful to follow the instructions that follow for mailing in your application and fee. The fee goes to the lockbox and the application goes to FHA headquarters. The lockbox address is different for each type of application.

Mail the application fee with a copy of the application to the following payment lockbox:

How long will it take to become an FHA-approved lender?

The current processing time is about two months if the application is approvable as submitted.  Requests for additional information or disapproval of an application can add another month to the processing time.

Can I check the status of my application?

If you have not been contacted within 2 1/2 months of when your application was received, please send a fax to check on its status to 202-401-6451.  Please include the applicant’s full legal name and Tax ID number in your fax.
