FHA RSS Feeds
What is RSS?
RSS has several meanings: Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, and RDF Site Summary, (RDF stands for Resource Data Framework).
Basically, RSS is an easy way for you to keep up with news and information that is important to you. Instead of using the conventional methods of browsing or searching for information on websites, the content you want can be delivered directly to you without cluttering up you inbox with e-mail messages. This content is called a "feed".
RSS summarizes the lates news and information from a website so that it can be easily read by an RSS reader. RSS is written in the Internet coding language known as XML (eXtensible Markup Language), a widley used standard for textual information exchange between applications on the Internet. RSS feeds can be viewed as plain text files, but they are really designed for computer-to-computer communication. To use RSS, you need a reader. The reader will search for the information you specify, then download and display it to you.
What is an RSS reader?
AN RSS reader is a small software program that collects and display RSS feeds. It allows you to scan headlines from a number of news sources in a central location.

How Do I Receive RSS Feeds?
The first step is to choose an RSS reader. Each reader has a slightly different way of adding a new feed, also called a "channel". Follow the directions for your reader but, in most cases, here's how it works:
1. Click on the link or small XML button near the feed you want. For example, on this page, click on
. You will see a list of types of RSS feeds that you can "subscribe" to.
2. To subscribe to an RSS feed, copy the URL (web address) from your browser's address bar. For exmple, the URL for this page is http://www.fha.gov/pls/portal/url/page/fha_home/rss_feeds.
3. Paste the URL into the "Add New Channel" section of your RSS reader. The RSS feed will check the subscribed feeds to see if there is any new content since the last time it checked. If there is, then it retrieves the new content and shows it to you.
