Berks County, PA recently helped to expand the Bally Senior Center so that it could serve the growing number of senior citizens in the area. The center now serves more than 150 people with many activities, community service projects, meals on wheels, and children’s events.

Cabela’s, the “World’s most famous outfitter” recently opened a new showroom in Hamburg, PA. The 225,000 square foot retail and entertainment attraction will create as many as 700 jobs and draw up to six million visitors in its first year of operation.

The historic Fritz Cemetery in Douglass Township, PA contains the remains of colonial settlers and veterans of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Berks County is helping to replace the original stone walls that surrounded the site.

The Gruber Wagon Works, built in 1882, holds more than 19,000 artifacts depicting manufacturing in the early 1900’s. Berks County operates the museum and recently used HUD’s CDBG funds to restore the museum’s slate roof.

Wyomissing Borough in Pennsylvania is using HUD’s CDBG funds to make the Happy Hollow Playground accessible to all borough residents.
